Larry "DOC" Stanberry

I would like to tell you a little about myself and what my ministry is all about. I am a prison chaplain. I minister to fellow Viet Nam veterans that are incarcerated. Now the majority of the guys in these prisons have had some serious re-adjustment problems after exposure to combat during their service during the war. I can vouch for that as I also had my share of trouble and self battles with PTSD aka Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Now some of you non veterans may say that its a cop out, what a bunch of wimps etc. I have lived like many of my brothers and it is real and its alive. My Lord Jesus got me thru the hard times instead of the drugs and alcohol that so many others turned to which is generally the reason they ended up doing something under the influence, that they would not have done otherwise.

Most of these men are really gentle human beings that have little left in life. Most have lost everything from real estate to wives and children. They are decorated warriors, they are more forgotten than the KIA's-MIA's-POW's. They are still hurting and many are at their lowest and ready to hear what the good book has to say and to listen to people like you and I, and how the Lord has moved in our lives. I can truthfully say that I have been recieving bountiful blessings the more obedient I am. As the site grows I shall share more as I cannot overwork my webmaster because his work on this site is also a love offering in the form of a gift. If any of you know about AA then christianity works the same way., you can't have it unless you give it away. I have tentative plans the Lord has laid on my heart to use some of your testimonies in the from of a monthly newsletter of encouragement to these inmates, and as time goes on I shall inform you if you choose to submit your tesimony.

I am still a one man LRRP (long range reconnaissance patrol) seeking volunteers to help. To me salvation is salvation cut and dried, and you need not be a veteran to help. I have slowed down recruiting pen pals from the pen as I cannot take on any more, However! should I recieve help I would pursue more. Any of you that choose to join the squad remember these two things 1) God gets all the glory 2) salvation is our primary purpose but we will encounter other areas of needs. I will share details later on with those that enlist, the pay is terrible but the blessings far out weigh the wages lost. I try and hold this ministry together on very limited funds, often wondering where the next stamp is coming from. I hope you enjoyed your visit to our site and I pray that you will join me in the ministry to our fallen comrades so to speak.

I invite you to keep checking with this site as the webmaster is going to write a CGI script to make this site interactive in the near future, untill then please send me an E-mail if you would like to join with me in bringing the word of God to these veterans that so desperately need it.

My friends call me (DOC) I served in the FIRST AIR CAV AIRMOBILE C co. 1/12th in Cambodia and the lll corps area during my tour in Viet Nam. Remember God loves you and so do I, please do not forget our forgotten warriors, they need someone and maybe that someone is you! Sincerely in Christ
